  • Lemonade welcomes Guest Editor, Darby Jones

Lemonade welcomes Darby Jones into the role of Guest Editor throughout May.

Darby Jones is a freelance writer and editor with matrilineal ties to the Kamilaroi mob in Southwest Queensland.

In 2023, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Writing) from the University of Queensland as the valedictorian of his graduating class. He is a proud alumnus of the black&write! Indigenous Writing and Editing Project at the State Library of Queensland, where he was rigorously trained in the art of culturally safe editing and manuscript development. Darby has collaborated with an array of literary publications and organisations, including Griffith Review Literary Journal, Island Magazine, Kill Your Darlings, University of Queensland Press, Penguin Random House (Australia and UK), Hachette (Australia and UK), and Melbourne Writers Festival.

As an advocate for diverse representation in literature, he has dedicated his career to amplifying the voices of marginalised peoples.

We hope you enjoy Darby’s month of reviews.

  • On Creative Australia

We join colleagues and friends in standing with artist Khaled Sabsabi and curator Michael Dagostino as Australia’s representatives at the Venice Biennale 2026.

We urge the Board of Creative Australia to reconsider their decision and, as an organisation mandated to provide arms length funding, call for transparency regarding the Board’s resolution to retract support and the processes that led up to it.
